Personal Rapid Transit System Visual Intrusion

Concern:

The visual intrusion won't be acceptable. There would be guideways running down every street in town. I don't want an elevated structure running over my front yard.

Reply:   A PRT system won't have guideways down every street. That would be much too expensive and present greater political challenges. Instead the guideways will have about the same density as major bus routes. For example, see ACPRT's counter-proposal to the Austin Rapid Transit Project light rail plan. The densest section of the this alignment lies in the downtown area, where the guideways are roughly eight blocks apart. The majority of the guideways will be sited along already developed commercial corridors and major thoroughfares through residential areas. This should minimize the number of private residences disrupted by guideway placement.
