"Texas Tribune: Interview with Richard Garriott on local effort" - 8 Feb 10
Richard Garriott already has. The Austin computer game developer, who has no shortage of vision, is just one example of someone in the private sector with an idea for making mass transit cleaner, safer and more desirable — someone who views the current pipe dream of high-speed rail as obsolete. Fifteen years ago, Garriott began toying with an idea he called "computer-controlled gondolas." "What happened in the intervening years is that many other people have thought of it and invested in it," he says. “Now this hypothetical thing I was talking about is at its time.”

"New beginnings for Charles Zipper and Dallas" - 13 Jan 04
1/12/04 ACPRT regrets the departure of one of our most earnest, hard working members. Even though he lived in Brownwood two hours away, Charles Zipper, put in many hours crunching data, traveling to Austin meetings, and working at our booths.
But there may be a silver lining. Newly relocated to the Dallas area for his new job, Charles is considering the challenging job of beginning a PRT group for Dallas/DFW. If you'd like to contact him, we still have his address charles@acprt.org for a little longer.

"SkywebExpress Annouces New Construction" - 6 Nov 03
On January 1, 2004, Taxi 2000 will begin its Phase 2 prototype program
to build a working, full-scale, outdoor demonstration of SkyWeb Express.
A substantial investment was recently received, and the company has
sufficient funding for all of stage one and some of stage 2 of the
four-stage Phase 2 program.
According to founder and inventor Dr. Ed Anderson, "This is a great day
for us, a great day for transportation, and a great day for the planet.
In 30 months we can have a working demonstration model of our system.
If any customers want to plan in parallel with our Phase 2, the first
SkyWeb Express system could be operating in four years."
More details will be supplied in coming months as Taxi 2000 begins this
exciting new phase in its development.
